Fall Stillwater Exploration in BC’s Land of Hidden Waters

An aerial map of British Columbia’s interior region displays the sheer quantity of lakes available to the angler willing to explore. From Kamloops north to the community of 100 Mile House and beyond, stillwater enthusiasts are found dispersed throughout this region from ice-off all the way until the late fall.

In this short exploration, Jordan Oelrich of Interior Fly Fishing Co. is joined by British Columbia born angler Paula Shearer in pursuit of large fall rainbows in shallow water. Prior to the ice arriving on the lake, these fish will slide onto marl flats to feed on residual food sources such as freshwater shrimp and small leeches.
