Based on a number of anonymous sources it appears that the Trump Administration is going to block or put some sort of hold on the proposed Pebble Mine.

Politico is reporting that the administration plans to outright block the project.

The Trump administration is planning to block the proposed Pebble Mine in Alaska early next week, six people familiar with the plans told POLITICO, marking a surprise reversal that could be the death knell for the massive copper and gold project.

The about-face by the administration likely signals more about issues with this specific mine than a sea change in Trump’s overall support for big development projects.

Axios is reporting “new hurdles” for the mine developers.

The Trump administration will place new hurdles in front of plans to build a large gold and copper mine in a sensitive Alaskan ecosystem, and may block the project outright, according to reports Saturday.

The Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal report the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will say Monday that the Pebble Mine would cause “significant degradation.”

Meanwhile over at Northern Dynasty…

The U.S. unit of diversified Canadian miner Northern Dynasty Minerals Ltd on Saturday denied a media report that said the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump plans to block its proposed Pebble Mine in Alaska early next week.
