Gregg Allman was laid to rest Saturday afternoon in Macon, Georgia, where the Allman Brothers Band singer was buried near his brother Duane Allman and bandmate Berry Oakley.

You guys just don’t know how big the Allmans were here in little Britain in the early 1970s. A few claim that we discovered and “broke” the band before you people did – the Allmans certainly seemed to be on the BBC’s Old Grey Whistle Test cult music show whenever you turned on a late-night TV set. Either way, the BBC’s very august and English establishment Radio 4 channel featured Gregg in its weekly “Last Word” obituary programme (British English spelling) this week – the ultimate accolade, as only the great and the good get featured.
