Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Angers Anglers By Stopping Trout Restoration

When it comes to Montana the destination things couldn’t be better. Beautiful country, booming economy and real estate prices, fly fishing numbers off the proverbial charts. But when it comes to politics Montana is destination fucked.

Gianforte, Daines, and Rosendale are leading the charge by supporting the big lie, implementing voting restrictions, stripping local jurisdiction’s ability to build affordable housing, loosening water quality regulations, the list goes on. Now Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks has put native fish restoration projects on hold across the state, prompting anglers to question why.

FWP spokesman Greg Lemon said the move was prompted by discussions during the passage of Senate Bill 360, which requires FWP to review the state fisheries management plan and include “extensive public meetings” by June 2023. SB 360 is awaiting the governor’s signature.
