Jewels of the North Umpqua: Frank Moore and the Wild Steelhead of Steamboat Creek

The 104,000-acre Steamboat Creek Watershed, located on U.S. Forest Service lands along Oregon’s famed North Umpqua River, which contains over 80 miles of prime spawning habitat for summer steelhead, representing about 30% of the known spawning habitat for summer steelhead in the coast planning domain. In addition to offering world class fishing, this rugged country provides outstanding backcountry hunting opportunities for black bear, elk and black-tailed deer.
