DamNation: Environmental groups withdraw lawsuit over Maine Atlantic salmon

Due to a recent decision by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association that determined that Atlantic salmon can coexist with hydroelectric dams, four conservation groups that have been fighting to restore the fish on the Kennebec River have dropped their lawsuit against the owners of four hydroelectric dams on the lower part of the river.

The groups say they can still shut down the dams by focusing on the federal relicensing applications by Brookfield Renewable Energy Partners.
