The Eel River is the third-largest river basin in the state and once had the largest runs of salmon and steelhead on the North Coast.

Removing the two aging Eel River dams, known as the Potter Valley Project, would benefit salmon, steelhead lamprey, and people, but what happens next remains unclear.
