The old cabin at Cholila is still there. When I saw it in the early 1990s, the man who owned the land on which it stands helped me clear the dust and vegetation etc in front of and behind the front door so I could walk into the tiny shack and look around.
As for the trout of the Los Alerces National Park and further south, Esquel etc, surrounds – not bad (and probably a lot better now, as, when I was down there, fly- and catch and release-fishing on some river were still something of a minority sport!).
