This week’s RIO Fly Fishing Tip shows how to identify emergers. Emergers are flies that are in the transitional stage between the underwater nymph or pupa, and the fully hatched adult.

When trout key in on emergers, they usually ignore the dry fly and feast exclusively on this low-riding insect, so having a good selection in your fly box is essential for the prepared fly fisher.
