TBT: The Columbia: America’s Greatest Power Stream

“The Columbia” is the most famous movie produced by BPA’s Motion Picture Information division. “The Columbia” illustrates the economic and societal value of the Federal Columbia River Power System and affordable electricity. BPA information officer Stephen Kahn used footage and music from “Hydro,” but inserted the war industries, flood control, and of course, the music of Woody Guthrie, whom BPA employed in 1941 to write songs inspired by the great Columbia River and Pacific Northwest.
