Nestlé’s plan to pump millions of gallons of Arkansas River water stirs debate

Selling bottled water is a license to print money. Nestlé Waters reported $8.6 billion in sales in 2019, and the company’s North American water brands generated $3.6 billion in sales in 2019.

Now the world’s largest food and beverage company wants a new 10-year permit to pump up to 65 million gallons of groundwater a year out of the Upper Arkansas River Valley for bottling in Denver.
