How a generation of killer whales was taken from Puget Sound

While the world grapples with how to save endangered southern resident killer whales it is somewhat ironic that Puget Sound was the source for killer whales to put on exhibit all over the world.

Between 1962 and 1976 the Pacific Northwest was the world’s only source for orcas for aquariums. During those years 270 orcas were captured, some more than once.
