80% of Alaska Metal Mines Polluted Water

So let’s build another mine on the world’s greatest salmon run.

Earthworks have released a study revealing that five of Alaska’s operating hard rock mines: Red Dog, Fort Knox, Pogo, Kensington and Greens Creek have experienced at least one major spill or other accidental releases of hazardous materials. Those spills include mine tailings, cyanide solution, diesel fuel, and ore concentrate, all deadly to fish.
