  1. I wish some government agencies in charge of protecting native wild fisheries truly appreciated native wild fish. This past August of 2015 in Yellowstone National Park, Custer-Gallatin National Forest in Montana and Shoshone National Forest in Wyoming they killed native wild Yellowstone cutthroat trout (YCT) in Soda Butte Creek (SBC) as part of their ‘Native Fish Conservation Plan’. Killing the very fish (via rotenone) they are touting to save. Their original plan was to poison SBC, killing not only the targeted non-native brook trout but also inadvertently the native wild YCT, then take 100% genetically pure YCT from nearby Pebble Creek or Antelope Creek, rear them in a fish hatchery and then restock SBC. So in essence SBC was to be restocked with hatchery raised YCT. According to these agencies, after public comments were made, they instead electroshocked about 3,000 YCT and replaced them in SBC when the rotenone dissipated. Phase 2 of this project is to continue in the Summer of 2016.
