RIO Launches Amateur Fly Fishing Film Awards

Announcing RIO’s Amateur Fly Fishing Film Awards, with great prizes for the winning films.

RIO Products knows the value of a fishing story and realizes that video creations are being made every day of fly fishing, casting and catching, so it launched the Amateur Fly Fishing Film Awards.

“These awards create opportunities for anglers to showcase this sport by entering a short film of their recent outings and catches in a format that anyone, anywhere can access,” says Simon Gawesworth, RIO brand manager. “Amateur filmmakers don’t get a shot at the big screen but still make great films, and we want to draw attention to their work and the filmmakers in these short films.”

The idea behind the competition is for anglers to create a film up to four minutes long and submit it to RIO for the public to vote on. There is a chance for one filmmaker to win an all expenses paid trip to Idaho for three days of fly fishing with the RIO crew. Additional, killer prize packages from RIO, Sage, and Redington will go to various category winners. The competition runs through March with the top three films announced each month (as voted by the public) and then moving through to the grand final. Winners will be announced May 12, 2017.
