Can anyone lend some information for first time visit to the Pulaski area for fall steel head fishing. I will be using spey rod and the current economy precludes my hiring a guide.

Hey Willie, If your heading to Pulaski I would stop by Whitakers Fly shop, and ask them about a guide, I'm sure they can point you in the right direction and also they have everything you would need for flies and tackle. Also, If I where you I would focus my attention on the upper end of the salmon river, like the upper and lower fly zones, but really with a spey rod the whole river is workable for you. And don't be afraid to use small flies, and nymphs, they can be deadly at times when the river has been highly pressured from the many anglers that visit! Particularly after salmon season, it can be real zoo at that time! Good luck to you and you'll love the place if you find the fish! You can easily put in a ten to fifteen fish day, if you figure out the river! It took me a few years to do it, but man, was it worth the time!
