Chum reader Timbre Pringle was out fishing on the Bow River this past Sunday. The fishing was slow until she tossed a pink marabou leach on and caught this Bull Trout. All kinds of good this is indeed.

Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 6:46AM The name "Bow" refers to the reeds that grew along its banks and which were used by the local First Nations peoples to make bows; the Peigan name for the river is "Makhabn", meaning "river where bow weeds grow"
Generally, the demands and detritus of a budding metropolis spell the death (or at least the considerable degradation) of a trout stream. But in the case of the Bow, Calgary’s swelling population — and, more specifically, its wastewater treatment needs — have helped create a world-class fishery in the 30 or so miles of river from the city east to the rural town of Carseland.
