WTF?!?!? DO NOT SHOP THERE!!!! tell wally world to stay the hell out of the fly fishing industry! if flies are too damn expensive for you, learn to tie them yourself and keep giving business to the real fly shops....bullshit.

Unbelievable!!!

March 6, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterPaul Puckett

Just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

March 6, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterSour

I like a low cost driver in the market.....keeps those local shops in check.

March 6, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterJeff

I'm sure Simms and Sage will be the first to get in there!

March 6, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterjohn fehnel

Cool, I can purchase my flw fly rod and buy my groceries in one stop.

If there's any money to be made, Walmart will do it. Not surprised or upset in the least. If it means more people learn to fish (bait on a hook isn't fishing) then I'm all for it. Access is expensive, and in the long run more fly anglers will mean more customers at fly shops desiring quality over quantity.

...what, problem?
those thinking that this is any different than Orvis, Wholesale, Bass Pro etc are kidding themselves...jus another retailer seeing a niche is all...it's what happens when people start using indicators...prostitutes the purity of the sport...
No Bobbers... No Big Box

March 6, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterdeerhawk

Heaven forbid someone wants to get into the sport on the cheap. You know, like kids or something. If you want to patronize a shop, by all means do it. And then instead of being a cantankerous old fart that scoffs at someone with a $20 rig from WalMart, engage them in conversation and maybe even tell them about the guys at the fly shop.
Elitism will kill this sport faster than WalMart and Bass Pro.

Wait.....what?! Okay so not such a good idea and you'll never see my sorry ass mug in there, but we do live in a capitalistic society right?? They have a right to sell.....You have the right to stay the frank away. Go fish with Castro's bro if you don't like it........

This week's sign that the apocolypse is upon us.

As if I didn't hate Walmart enough....this speaks volumes about how greedy that corporation is!

March 6, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterRich

Night crawlers is in the fridge under the counter, corn's in aisle 3...

March 6, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterAddams Family

Yea, throw away money at Orvis instead, which sells the exact same things from the exact same brands at a 20% markup over Walmart. Or buy the same things from your small local shop at a 20% markup over Walmart.

Or do what we all do anyway and buy them online for the same price as Walmart, with the added convenience of an added shipping fee.

I don't know about where all you people are from, but I have to dry 40 minutes to get to a shop that sells fly tying stuff. If Walmart offered items across the street from my house, I would be there. If they sold the same things as orvis or the small local shops, but cheaper, I would buy them cheaper.

I know this is an unpopular idea, but do you really think Orvis or your local dealer pays that much more per fly than Walmart?

never

March 6, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterWhat the karp

As a truck driver I find this to be awsome. It's hard as hell to get a big rig to any of these small, but good, fly shops. I tie my own flys, but if I can get me some hackle at Walmart prices I can't complain about that.

March 6, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterMattG

Is this real!!???? WTF!!!

Think Hank Patterson will be the first officailly endorsed Walmart Fly Fishing Guide? Snap it!

March 6, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterBL Smoothie

Years ago, before I began tying, I used to buy some flies at Wal Mart. I've bought fly rods from Wal Mart, too. They aren't the best by any means, but they work. I bet a lot of folks are introduced to fly fishing through Wal Mart and other big retailers. Not everyone has the money to buy expensive, over priced gear. Trashing Wal Mart because it embraces fly fishing is elitist, plain and simple.

March 6, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterRedneck fly fisherman

Capitalism shmapitalism, Wal-Mart is imperialism! they have undermined product manufacturers and forced out small businesses in every market they enter...as someone mentioned this could control prices elsewhere like fly shops, fine, but you better damn well believe in the long run, that stupid smiley face and his 'everyday low prices' are going to put a hurting on the industry.

Thanks - I just threw up in my mouth too!

:/

What is this Wally World coming too???

March 7, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterWHOOEEEE BABY!!!

I've purchased my fishing license there for 2 years running, and will continue to do so in the future. As lame as it is, they are open when I drive through. I'm not going to miss 1/2 day of fishing because I had to wait for a shop to open.

March 8, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterSilly Me

I am an elitist and proud of it. Fuk Walmart and the rest of the box stores. They are the demise of our society.
