One In Winter
Friday, February 17, 2012 at 12:05AM Whether it be The Season, Eastern Rises, The Big Pull, or The Kamchatka Steelhead Project, Ryan Peterson has played a starring role in some of the genre's most soulful media.
Here is the lead in on his latest effort.
A couple seasons ago I swapped fly rod for camera and followed my friend, Rich Zellman as he cast for winter-run steelhead. Over countless days, eye traced rod's path, over and over again. And over again.
This is what came of that effort.

Finally, somebody gets the whole "film" thing right. Minimal dialogue, tells a story, leaves me thinking at the end. That was awesome.

However, it's ironic that it was filmed in 'The State of Jefferson' and on the same page there's a story about the political shenanigans in Siskiyou County. The fools who run Siskiyou County are the same fools who proclaim it to be 'The State of Jefferson'.

Beautifully done. The song used in video captures the feeling of the hours of solitude and silence that are broken by the momentary chaos of catching a steelhead on the swing.
