What was the targeted species and what was the fly?
I've been wanting to catch a cat on a fly as well. Curious to know what kind of fly? Crawfish, flesh, or streamer?
That is one FUGLY fish but battling it on a 6 wt must have been a blast!
Caleb, you rock--great fish. Normally I defend the honor and beauty of all fish, but that one is...not the most attractive animal on our green earth.
cheers, we sight fish to these monster kitties, thus the intented species would be cats. I used a crayfish pattern that i tie called Pork Soda, and another called cat daddy. My wife and I have landed around 15 cats this summer, her best being around 19 lbs. The secret to pounding kitties is finding them, scan the water for rip rap, downed logs, or any structure. After that it is a waiting game, I have watched these structures for up to a couple hours until I can spot one, after that it is a matter of getting it in front of their whiskered face.
