Normally the book is better than the movie, but in this case, the book is much better, at least from what I've seen of this trailer. Having said that, the girl is hot, so I'll go see it.

Looks like A River Runs thru my Garden State . . . which, frankly looks quite ghey. Kid can't act, storyline is contrived . . . and the website steals a quote from Thoreau without acknowleging him. Chick is a hottie, no arguments here.

If the trailer is a "best of" teaser, this is bound to be disappointing. I hope I'm wrong, because this story deserves top-drawer filmmaking.

It's a pretty serious point of contention between David James Duncan, the author of the novel, and the producers of this movie. There was a big legal battle, yadda yadda yadda and somehow these folks ended up with rights to the film. Duncan has alluded to his wishes for the film to tank and, frankly, I think he'll get his wish. He has vague plans for a film that may or may not ever come to fruition, but if it does it will certainly exceed the film we've just previewed. As far as the story itself, I can't recommend The River Why enough. It's a fantastically written novel by a man who cares deeply, not radically, about our rivers, our fish and our world.
