Naaa man it is the shoes, I took a pair of Mad Rock Jokers and glued overlapping layers of bicycle innertube to the soles and found that the key is a steady, swift but steady pace is perfect I ran right across the Shrewsbury River on an up and across line. Spectators took a few pics and they are hanging behind the bar in Fantasy Land.

Ive seen this done in Wales with coal miners pit boots for gear. You could see the coal dust floating on the water afterwards.
