famous name here in nor cal--the mcleod family settled in a little area known to have some of the most amazing fishing opps for the redband rainbow, which later became the most widely dispersed hatchery fish ever. the mcloud is still an amazing fishery in the new world standards of disapearing fish

    May 21, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterike

not a pellet pig. Landed in the canyon stretch of the Truckee. No stocking here. This hen is the biggest bow I've seen here in 33 years. There's some browns like this but a rainbow of this size is very rare. Took a sz. 18 PT on 4X. Fought like a steelhead with some backing sightings.....

    May 21, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterstefan#103mcleod

... perfectly pointless. Just ask any Utah fisherman.

Scott Evil, now that's funny. I'm the Diet Coke of evil.... Just one calorie! Not evil enough

    May 21, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterstefan#103mcleod

YES!!! Awesome fish man... yeppo, the truckee holds monster browns, but a rainbow like this comes once in a blue moon. CA or NV side of the canyon? GREAT to see a beauty like this. I'm actually going to fish the Truckee today!!

    May 21, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterBlake

She came from the California side upstream of Floriston. The Truckee is running big right now so bring your lead and wading staff. Last I checked its around 1100cfs. Good luck today. Maybe see you on the water after work bout 1ish?
    Cheers

...Just won fly fishing. He knows by the look on his face.

The game is over. This guy won. Throw away your fishing gear.

    May 21, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterThis guy.....

If that's the biggest bow you've seen on the Truckee in 33 years then you must not fish it often. Nice fish though.

    May 21, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterZach

yeah, I dont fish the Truckee often at all. Only logged 100 plus days on the Truckee and its tribs last year.......... I need to step it up a little and shoot for 200 days I guess. Good call Zach

    Scott Evil,
I forgot to add - great fish and great pic - keep up the good TU work.
Fuck the haters - this is supposed to be a community of fly fishers - we need to band together to accomplish our objective of keeping our waters clean and clear.
99% of the people viewing this site would send in their pic of lifetime fish.

    Nice native rainbow.

To all the pricks on this site and the other fly boards,
What is so wrong about taking a picture of a fish?
Fishing is a blood sport. If you love these fish so much, then you are not doing them any favors by hooking them in the mouth and dragging them from their home.
Pacific Northwest Steelheaders seem to be the biggest hypocrites in the game.

There sure are a lot of "Haters" on the web Milwaukee. It's all good though. Thanks for the kind words. I've dedicated over half of my life to chasing Truckee's wild trout with my custom bugs and working to protect and preserve my beautiful home waters. I'm the luckiest guy on the planet to live in the Truckee/Tahoe area and be able to spend so much time on the water.
I just wish Summer would hurry up and get here! At 3:59pm on Fri. May 21, its snowing outside. So sick of snow! Were at about 140% for snow pack so the Truckee will be flowing a little better this fall though. Gonna go wade the 42 degree freezer and chuck some streamers......
    Cheers,

    May 21, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterstefan#103mcleod

    Sweet fish!

    May 21, 2010 | Unregistered Commentershankbone

thats what, 22" tops ? Not really "slab" quality imo, kinda avearage for most rivers. But then, i suppose it may be the biggest ever for that river, too bad if so, river sux then

    May 21, 2010 | Unregistered Commenternewt

    I'd take that fish anyday..

    May 21, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterRE

Killer fish man. Any fish of that size is a fun way to end the day and great work. Ignore the haters too brother. They love to stir the pot as they have a hard time dealing with life. I too fish many solid days a year all over and that fish is a solid fun catch in any stream anywhere. Yeah you may be able to catch one larger, but the haters never seem to use their real names and post the larger fish fro all of us to view. Keep up the great work and fun pics.

    May 21, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterBrent Dawson

Yep, that's the biggest fish you'll ever see on the Truckee by far. Mostly just 10-12 inch planters. Way better destinations elsewhere.
