    End bowhunting of Louisiana's last gamefish

    Despite being a designated "gamefish" in the state of Louisiana, redfish are not protected from being harvested by bow and arrow or spear gun. Louisiana is the only state along the Gulf that allows any gamefish to be harvested with an arrow or spear.

    The CCA has put out an advocacy alert to anglers to voice their support for a bill in the Louisiana Legislature to fix this glitch so that red drum are provided the same protection extended to other species designated as “gamefish.”  LINK

    Unless there is adequate enforcement I've got a feeling that the red fish will still be meeting Mr. Muzzy the Carbon Mag arrow....

    i agree with hunter if you take fish that are legal size and within your bag limit to eat who cares the holes in there lip or body. But theres no such thing as catch an release in bowfishing and if you shoot a fish outside the legal size limitations are you just gunna release it ? even if you somehow managed to hit the fish in an area that wouldnt kill it itll be shark food for sure.

    Probably a lot easier to catch them than with a hook and line and this depleting the population faster.
