Living Tree Fly Fishing Sculpture

I've been to Basalt dozens of times to fish and have never seen this.

In the autumn of 2004 Larry Lefner was commissioned by the town of Basalt, Colorado to design and create a sculpture from a living Cottonwood tree.

One of my daughter's favorite sites in Basalt, it is simply rad.

It's a sculpture of one of our guides, Sandy Moore. Even down to his missing fingers....and lack of waders. Sandy's been guiding in the Valley for us since the 70's. The artist is a longtime friend of his. Very cool piece.....it's titled, "Sandy meets Goliath".
