Dec. Slab of the Month Entry: Thompson River Steel

I hit the Thompson with Apple and Niska last month during perfect conditions and got blanked.  Jason Higo hit it last week and took this dime hen.  Jumping 6 times and wreaking all kinds of backing havoc, this fish was hot.  But, at 15 degrees below, the weather was not.

All things considered, this is slab worthy indeed.

At sub-freezing air temps, holding the fish out of the water is a HUGE mistake--one I've made myself a couple of times. Fantastic fish. Sorry to be a buzz-kill, but it needed to be said.

agreed...well that and that you are talking about a run of fish in extreme trouble and a river that prob shouldnt have been opened....and a hen full of about 30,000 little balls of hope

Great Slab Jay! There won't be any "dillon's" braving those Thompson waters at that time of the year!
