Fish farm drops eco-friendly label on some products

Salmon that was raised at certain fish farms near Tofino, B.C., won’t be sporting one of the industry’s top eco-friendly labels when it hits grocery stores.

Cermaq Canada, which operates several fish farms in Clayoquot Sound, said it will temporarily stop labeling some of its fish with the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) branding, which exists to tell shoppers that it’s farmed responsibly.
