Coldwater Connection

Coastal salmon strongholds on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula — like the Hoh, Queets, and Quillayute rivers — have the greatest likelihood of providing strong runs of wild salmon and steelhead into the future. But even these strongholds face challenges. Many streams are blocked by culverts and roads that prevent fish passage. Wild Salmon Center’s Coldwater Connection campaign seeks to reconnect 150 miles of streams along the Washington Coast, to help wild steelhead and coho salmon access cold-water rearing habitat.
