Oil Was Central in Decision to Shrink Bears Ears Monument

Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke claimed that reducing the Bears Ears national monument in Utah wasn’t about oil and gas. 

So it should come as no surprise that fossil fuels played a major role in the Department of Interior’s decision to scale back the Bears Ears National Monument. 

Ryan Zinke is lying to you. 

 “We also have a pretty good idea of, certainly, the oil and gas potential — not much!” Mr. Zinke said last year. “So Bears Ears isn’t really about oil and gas.”
